We decided to offer this bulb to reduce damage caused to sockets especially in "cramped" fixtures. Example: Landscape Spot / Flood lights, Recessed down lighting, Under Water Lights. etc. ANY fixture, whether indoor or outdoor that uses an MR16 bulb, are susceptible to premature socket wear out and complete failure because of the high heat (over 400 degrees) of an MR16 bulb. Our "Brilliant" bulb eliminates the back light that is common with MR16 bulbs because of it Silver Back Shielded design. This design ALSO causes much LESS heat to come out of the back of our bulb. Because of much LESS heat and NO light out of the back of this bulb, your socket life will defiantly increase or may even last indefinitely!

The TRU-AIM BRILLIANT® Solution
SYLVANIA TRU-AIM BRILLIANT® MR16 bulbs have an aluminized reflector that does not deteriorate over time. TRU-AIM BRILLIANT MR16 bulbs therefore feature highly stable color and crisp, white light output throughout their service life. Unlike dichroic reflectors which are designed to allow much of the heat generated by the bulb to pass backward, the TRU-AIM BRILLIANT aluminized reflector directs most of the bulb's heat forward. This can help reduce premature socket and transformer failure and makes these bulbs ideal for recessed fixtures, landscape lights and track lights with integral transformers. And because the reflector is completely opaque, there is no backlight or rainbow effect when mounted in gimbal ring fixtures.
