What's the difference between 2-Wire and 3-Wire Rope Light?
|
Q: What’s the difference between STANDARD (2-WIRE) and SUPER (3-WIRE) 120V Rope Light units? A: All units give out the same amount of light and are physically the same dimensions and size. When activated WITHOUT a controller, meaning just simply plugged in, all the types of rope light will simply turn on without any sort of light effects. The difference primarily is that each unit will offer you different unique lighting effects when used WITH a controller. The other differences are the lengths that the manufacturer has designed the rope light to be cut in. The Super & Standard Rope light are designed to be cut in DIFFERENT lengths. However UL has determined that you can not cut any rope light and keep the UL approval. Click here for details on this cutting/UL issue for the STANDARD rope light. Or Click here for details on this cutting/UL issue for the SUPER rope light. WHEN USING A CONTROLLER: STANDARD (2-Wire) with LARGE controller: Flashing and other effects. Click Here for details! STANDARD (2-Wire) with MINI controller: same as above: Click Here for details! SUPER (3-Wire) with LARGE controller: Chasing, Flashing, and other effects: Click Here for details! SUPER (3-Wire) with MINI controller: same as above: Click Here for details! **You can run up to 150 feet when using a large controller ***You can run up to 26 feet when using a small controller WHEN NOT USING A CONTROLLER: All units will simply turn on with no light effects. |
| Q: Whats the difference between the mini controllers and large controllers? A: The larger controllers will allow you to control up to 150 feet of rope light, the mini controller will only allow you to control up to 26 feet. Both controllers essentially do the same job, the difference depends on wether you're using Standard or Super. See above question for more information.. |
